Therapy is not solely for the person experiencing difficulties in their lives. It can also help inspire those around them to show that we all have challenges in our lives, and it's only through healing that we can move through the painful feelings and emotions and live with intent to improve our circumstances.


Generational trauma is prevalent in many families where you can identify particular patterns of behaviour and thoughts that is causing havoc in their daily lives. It could stem from traumatic experiences like abuse, poverty, neglect, familial dysfunctional behaviour, parent separation, racism, disasters, wars, the list goes on. It can as emotional challenges such as self-esteem, people-pleasing, inability to confront emotions; depression, anxiety, health issues or addictions.


Psychoanalysis has been scientifically proven to reduce generational trauma (Psych central, 2022) where people can explore their recurring patterns in their interpersonal relationships, and see how unpleasant experiences are passed down to one generation to the next. An individual can begin their healing journey through therapy and can start improving their relationships with their children, parents, relatives, friends, co-workers or partners, which can encourage their healing journeys, and so it goes on to create better families, friendships, relationships and communities.
